The Romanesque church of Fleac was certainly built on an ancient Celtic and then Gallo-Roman worship.
It used to exist a sanctuary dedicated to the Virgin Mary in the 9th century, destroyed during the Norman invasions.

During the 12th century, this masterpiece of Romanesque art was built with its series of domes and its semi-dome apse.
Inside the church, a 15th century mural painting shows the martyrdom of Saint Barbe (Barbra).

Classified as a historic monument in 1912, the church has never encountered major restoration.
