Some texts trace the origin of the church in Nersac to the Charlemagne period. However, the construction of the current church would date back approximatively 1126, dependent on the abbey of Saint-Cybard in Angouleme.

The Romanesque-style nave, open on the west side by a sculptured portal, and the square steeple have been raised and embedded by Gothic-style chapels, which gives the church an unusual, original appearance.

The church has been classified as a Historic Monument in 1925.
