The history of the town was marked by Calvin's stay in 1533. Stalked from all sides, fleeing under another name, he found protection from the priest of Claix, Louis du Tillet, of whom he was the preceptor and who embraced his new doctrine.

The church dated 12th century, attended by Calvin, still exists.

Dedicated to Saint-Christophe, its Romanesque-style architecture is simple. The church has been classified as a Historic monument in October 20, 1920.
