Hermitage of the famous Charentais writer and Academician Jean-Louis Guez de Balzac (17th century)... The castle, situated a few kilometers from Angouleme, has the "French Historic Monument" and "Maison des Illustres" labels. The castle is from the 13th, 17th and 18th centuries.
Marie de Médicis, Richelieu and the Duc d'Epernon lived there for a while.

Things to see:
- ancient chapel dated 13th century
- kitchen, gallery, frescoes, small museum, objects dated 17th and 18th centuries
- rural heritage.

Opening hours:
from July 10 to August 25, 2017 5pm
For the European Heritage Days in September (guided visits at 11am, 3pm and 4pm).

Guided visit of the inside of the castle by the owner: 5pm. Average length of visit: 1h. The owners received the 1st National Prize of the Old French Houses association and a National award from the Parks and Gardens of France. Guided visits for groups on request.
Visit of the gardens: from 12pm to 6pm in free access.

Groups accepted (30 people maximum).
